About Us

Owner & operator Chris Taylor founded Tahoe Deck to do one thing exceptionally well: build beautiful, lasting decks across the Reno–Tahoe area. Chris is a skilled carpenter and, when he's off the job site, a devoted dad to his daughter Olivia and son Tobias.

We love working outside — and we love the craft. Building decks well takes a well-rounded team: our carpenters are knowledgeable in concrete, rebar and excavation, structural framing, and the detail and precision of finish carpentry.

We enjoy taking on challenging, outside-the-box construction — custom staircases with railings, tree houses, landscape bridges — but our typical customer is a long-time Tahoe/Truckee resident or vacationer with a deck that needs replacing.

By focusing on decks specifically, we've built streamlined systems that let us deliver a consistent, high-quality product. That focus means we can offer bid contracts on 90% of decks, fences, and shade structures — we guarantee our price. If the crew is slow or something goes wrong, that's on us as the contractor, not on you.

In a typical time-and-materials "cost plus" scenario, you're given an estimate and, if the clock runs up, it's on the customer's dime. We'd rather carry that risk ourselves. We pride ourselves on clear communication, professionalism, integrity, and quality craftsmanship.
